I have carefully chosen which member of the band should wear each mask to represent their part in the band and their role in the music video.

The Drummer - Anger

hockey is seen as an incredibly violent and angry sport. I chose the this as the dummer's mask as the drums are the most violent instrument in the band as it involves alot of upper body movement and is the only percussion instrument.

Lead Guitarist/Backing Vocals - Split-Part Mask

The half face mask I have given to the lead guitarist/backing vocalist as of his split part in the band.

Bassist - Death/Silence

Through history crows have been known to pick the bodies of fallen soldiers on a battlefield after war. Becuase of this they now have connotations similar to that of a vulture. A creature that stands by the sides silently but is always noticeable. This reflects the bassists part in the band as the bass often fades into the background but is always noticeable as it sets the tempo for the other instruments. I also plan to reinforce this role of death in my video.

Lead Vocals - Open mouth

Characters Representing The Dark - Covered/lack of personality/conformed/"Phantom of the Opera"

I plan to have the five characters representing the dark wearing full Phantom of the opera face masks which I will paint black. The fact they cover their faces means they have a distinct lack of personality meaning the audience will not sympathise with them but rather with the band. They will all wear conforming masks as they are there to represent the companies and artists who produce the music that is considered the normal and currently control the charts and the mainstream. My target audience will relate to this as they try to fight against this norm and see this music as comformatist. The phantom of the opera is about a phantom who tries to control a talented girl called Christine. Christine is trained by the phantom but falls in love Raoul. The phantom sees this as a betrayal and becomes angry with Christine. My video will relate to this as the dark characters will be like the phantom trying to control Christine who would be the music but the music belongs with the band causeing the dark masked characters to lash out.
